Jewelry Tree

This is not the greatest photo due to the poor lighting at home, but above are the rocks with moss and twigs put together. My table at home is roughly the same size as our surface so looks as if we won't have to worry about not having enough props. I hope someone is good at placing props for the compisiton.

I am attempting to make a jewelry tree, several hopefully, to prop on top table. Earrings need to be light weight and I will try to make a sturdy one for a heavier type accessory someone might bring.

I am also going to cover a few rocks I found in the yard with my moss. I will post a photo once I finish up.

  1. hi this is actually a good idea. maybe we can still incorporate a "forest" using moss to cover the table and put up trees in different heights, with accessories hanging from them. i read in one of the comments that pop of color is indeed needed, but i think we should keep that minimal.

  2. Larice- the slate rock planter that i'm bringing has the metal pins in it for flowers and twigs etc....bring extra twigs for it.

I just came from H&M and found great wooden jewelry that will look fab. displayed together.
They also had green suede pumps that I ended up not buying. I could always go back If we absolutely need them.

    3 bracelets
    2 necklaces

  3. So I have kinda created twig sculptures we can either lay across table and sprinkle with moss or prop up right to appear like the jewelry tree idea.
Can anyone gather loose leaves, not dried and crispy, but moist and lush looking types? I'd like to see how it looks with leaves to somewhat cover the top along with moss because we will need some moss to disguise the glue on twigs.

I think I have more than enough wood props so everyone should focus on color to incorporate, perhaps from shoes and leaves will be enough. We have the bright green from the moss and gold beetle Resha has.

  5. Sorry to keep repeating myself, just want to make sure everyone knows we need more moss. I got the supermoss, bright green and real pretty, at Michael's. It is $6 a bag. I think we might need two or three more and we can return what is unopened. thx

And remember to bring receipts and cash. Maybe we can reimburse one anothe this time.

  6. If no one else can get the moss I have about a half hour between work and class tomorrow I can run to michaels and get some, I might just be a bit late for class.. I'll keep checking back to see if anyone else could get it

  7. No worries, Resha to the rescue. She called from Michael's and she will bring three more bags of supermoss. She also has the felt and will bring that too along with her beetle. She is going to try to get two more from H&M so we will have three to work with.

    Alyssa-
Maybe you can take care of picking up more beetles. Resha said she'd just call to see if they have'em and have them put on hold til she can get there. She says they were also $6 each.
I agree with Audra when she says we should try to stick with one type of insect accessory in multiple numbers.

  8. So once I started to prop jewelry trees, the twigs snapped on a few. I do have enough to fill the table and we will have to work with what I bring.
Beetle jewelry is what I'd like to use most. Put a bunch on hold at H&M, 150 Post, under Alyssa. Spoke to both Alyssa and Audra so pretty sure one of the two will pick-up. Sounds like Resha might not make it to class. Hope Bryant can bring the extra moss.
