Base Coverings

Hi guys! here are the base coverings.. for the turquoise i painted raffia like stuff that looks like a nest-like material with turquoise paint and got some black rice ( couldn't find black bird seed).. the pink is pretty self explanatory.. it's all done we can just cut to size and put it on the cube.. for the yellow I was originally planning on gluing the feathers down on paper prior to class but on second thought decided not to bc we may want to change up the pattern of the feathers depending on the layout of the cube so I'm just bringing all the feathers, some paper and glue with me. I also have extra pink newspaper we can use for something if we need it.

Nests and Birds!

Hey guys!

I finally found some decent looking nests. I picked up three natural twig nests at $3.09 each (they were the biggest in stock, and I got the last three!).  I will be painting them yellow later tonight...

I was also lucky enough to run into these little birds. I bought 3 at $5.25 each (a steal I think)...

Also, I was unable to read the receipts attachment, could anyone please let me know how much cash to bring tomorrow?

Thanks!

Bird concept

Here are the colors for pink and turquoise props. Alyssa is designing the yellow cube. Had no problem finding bird houses and bird cages at Pet Club and Micheal's.

Luisa & Resha-

We need a birds nest, one medium in size, or three smaller in size for yellow cube. Nest should be painted yellow.

Bird house and latter are for turquoise cube. Still unsure of base covering. IDEAS anyone???

Bird cages and birds are for pink cube. Plan to paint the cages black and birds pink or vise versa actually might work better. Alyssa is creating base covering for pink cube with newspaper.

Center Cube

Seems we are having trouble with a cohesive design. Last I heard, Alyssa found pink and yellow feathers for base coverings. Where are the birds, how big are they, and how many do we have??

My responsibility is the covering for the center cube and my color is "turquoise." I am all for bird toys so tomorrow I am going to figure out how to display a pair of shoes with this idea in mind.
Th picture below is my inspiration.

Also, I have been super busy this weekend with work, but I want to get materials tomorrow and try to post my idea for three cubes since we need a complete concept bad.

Egg ideas

Gold leafing eggs would be a great way to bring in the metalic accent colors that we want.  Before I buy the supplies I need to know how many I should make.  Will this be used for only one cube or for all?

birdcages, birdhouses

I have had no luck finding any bird houses/cages small enough to fit in those cubes! Resha, have you had any luck?

should i focus instead in making some sort of nest??

base coverings

Hi everyone!

I got supplies to make base coverings for the yellow and pink cubes. Yellow- black and yellow feathers, I'm going to make a cool design with them on paper that we can just put right onto the cube. Pink- I'm going to paint newspaper with sheer pink paint (so it will be pink but you can still tell it's newspaper) and do some yet to be determined nifty thing with it.. I promise it will look good = ) so Larice if you could get something for the turquoise cube that would be great

shoes for birds

these are the shoes I have.

Brainstorming Birds--Large Cubes

So to refresh our memory I have included notes from tonight's class at the very bottom of this post.
Here are cool egg imagery with feather and shells. BUT I wan to propose another story to tell, bird toys. Props like a latter, swing, ring links , perch (just a few ideas) we pick three, one for each cube. Shoes will be displayed like a bird hanging, swinging, sitting etc. on the toy. Here are a few examples minus the color scheme. What do you think??

Egg Sculpture

speckle eggs and cracked shell. These are the feathers I'd like to use, some are spotty and fluffy-like. I bet we could make the speckled eggs ourselves with ink splashes.

Class Notes for BIRD theme:
Black Birds......Accent colors will be turquoise, pink, and yellow.

Focus on finding shades of black (grays) in a variety to add depth and dimension.
Metallics, blacks with silver sparkles, velvety blacks.................

Cube dimensions:

Base 13 1/2 X 13 1/2
Cover 14 X 14

larice - Base cover for center Cube, feathers, seed.......
Alyssa-Base cover for side cubes, feathers.....
Louisa-Bird houses, nest, and /or cages
Resha-Bird houses, nest, and /or cages

stuffff

hi i called h&m and seems like alyssa already called them. i can pick them up tomorrow since i have a break for more than an hour anyway. i also bought some more bug jewelry but they're silver. i can always return them if we wont need it. i will try to pick up some leaves but i cant guarantee i would have them by tomorrow, so just in case i guess everyone should bring enough of them. im attaching the pictures of the jewelry i found today and some of the "wooden" necklaces i have here. although they are long and have lots of beads on them so i dont know if it will go with the tree larice made (they look cool by the way).

hey bryant, just in case i really cant go to class tomorrow(i hope i can), can i deliver materials to your house? tell me when you're available. thanks.

Jewelry Tree

This is not the greatest photo due to the poor lighting at home, but above are the rocks with moss and twigs put together. My table at home is roughly the same size as our surface so looks as if we won't have to worry about not having enough props. I hope someone is good at placing props for the compisiton.

I am attempting to make a jewelry tree, several hopefully, to prop on top table. Earrings need to be light weight and I will try to make a sturdy one for a heavier type accessory someone might bring.

I am also going to cover a few rocks I found in the yard with my moss. I will post a photo once I finish up.

Bricks? Sod? Shoes?

I can buy and pick up supplies Tues before class, including the sod, but I need to understand what it is that you are doing with this all! It is pointless to buy and bring supplies that may or may not work. That would be just shooting in the dark, and that all leads to crappy cheap looking work.

Why do we not concentrate in a solid idea and make that work the best possible?? I am not down to having a stress attack tuesday night, with no one agreeing on anything, or people just directing others on what to do. We should ALL understand what is going on the day of.

Projet Geisha

More "GREEN" concepts

MINI FRUIT STAND

Materials:
old crates paint bright colors
baskets Mitch match bright and normal looking
table cloth ??
fruit
colorful necklaces, rings, accessories

On top table, I have a couple wooded cigar boxes to add to Resha's baskets that we can fill with colorful beaded necklaces (I bet we all have a few). We can incorporate Alyssa's bricks to stack bottles and prop baskets on table. we can use Resha's gold beetle. What do ya say??

I like this idea a lot since we have lotsa color options, materials should be easy to find and inexpensive, PLUS, we can re-use old glass bottle. Anyone happen to have an antique scale??

OR

Since we are still unsure about our table top focal point, here is another idea. Anyone have a cute pair of pumps or flats to volunteer for a "walk in the park" kinda theme?

OR...

ok what exactly are we doing because i need to know so i can start buying stuff i have all day off tomorrow to look around

-bryant

green idea

L-R, Top: flower pin, butterfly hair stuff, flower earrings with beads, bow & buttefly necklace in silver, i think thats a beetle necklace in gold.
bottom: wooden wall hangers, pins: bird with rhinestone and black flower, butterfly necklace.
(i also have a gold butterfly earrings, i just have to find it because i used it last thursday.)

small baskets

hi i found a small bird house today. i think its about 7.7 inches. i was thinking we can use that and the basket i found.put the house on top of the hill create a pathway going downhill using small stones and in the bottom of the hill; put flowers, grass and accessories inside the basket.

we can also use the small tiles alyssa found either for the pathway, as a fence or something else. . the pathway could have some accessories too if we can think about what kind of accessories we can put in there or the door, window and chimney of the house can serve as a place to put accessories like a ring or something. i drew a sketch but of course it is weak hahaha.

i also found this necklace and bracelet holder. i have 3 of those baskets and i thought i had more accessories with flowers but apparently i dont. i bought some from h&m and if we are planning on returning them they cant be damaged in anyway that goes as well with the other accessories im gonna buy because honestly, i forgot to buy the pink ones when i went shopping this afternoon. those pictures of accessories i posted the other day were from jcpanneys and actually costs like $20 a jewelry, thats why i didnt want to buy them yet because i dont want to just return everything you know. well, just let me know what you guys think about this idea or what we're really going to do.

i havent bought any moss yet cause i thought bryant said in one of his comments that he'll take care of it but i can go buy more stuff tomorrow or monday.
